Not Only Surviving But Thriving

The 3 year wait is over. I did my first ride with my Star Trek bicycle jersey. Of course I took this picture AFTER the mission was over.

For those of you not familiar with the original Star Trek series, I will explain. When Captain Kirk took a team down to a planet to explore, the team usually included 3-4 crew members in red uniforms. These red shirts almost never had speaking parts and almost always died on whatever planet or ship they were on.

Now the reality (according to Google AI) is that only 10-12% of the red shirts died. The perception, however, is that only 10-12% survived. Hence the comedy of this bike jersey.

I wanted to wear this jersey in my original Option B video back in 2023, but my mom did not think it very funny. While she still may not get it, I decided to dust it off and give it a ride. I am glad I made it through this bike ride AND I am super glad I am not only surviving but thriving through the cancer journey I am on.

Maybe now I am an officer! Ha!

P.S. In the rekindled Star Trek series during the 1980’s they changed the uniform colors. In this series the Officers wore red and very few of them died.
