Time To Get Out Of The House!
Jeri and I took the day off and turned a cool and drizzly day into a Field Trip. It was a 4 hour drive down to the Everglades National Park and 4 hours back. We only spent a couple hours at the park, but the day was totally worth it.
Our first search was for a donut. We found a promising shop is West Palm Beach, but surprisingly the donuts all looked too sweet. We ended up getting a chocolate croissant (Jeri) and a huge piece of poppyseed bread (Jeff). They were worth it.
Driving an electric car we had to charge. In Miami we stopped at a Walmart to do so. While there we bought two umbrellas and an iron. Why an iron you wonder? Me too, but it was on our list. The only thing I have ever used an iron on in the last 35 years are cloth napkins. I guess Jeri wants the wrinkles gone when we have guests. (Once every two years)
Then because we had not made enough stops, Jeri found a fantastic stand alone Mexican restaurant. 100% of the reviews were positive. It absolutely lived up to the reviews. Fantastic!
We did make it to the Everglades. We walked for an hour or more through a couple trails. We saw alligators, birds, and a turtle. My mom wanted to know what kind. The alligators were the huge kind. Some of the birds were black, some were white, and a few were teal. The turtle was the kind that swim under water. I’m sure my mom was looking for a better description, but that’s all we have. I can however tell you exactly what kind of meat, tortillas, cilantro, salsa, and onions were in my taco.
In the end we drove home almost the same way we came. Just a lot more traffic. I understand now why the Brightline railroad was built.
In the end, it took us exactly 12 hours. Visiting the Everglades National Park was just the excuse hanging out with just the two of us was absolutely the goal. Accomplished!
