Mulder and Sons on the Move!
Mulder and Sons
Headed home now from our trip to New England. (Well, at least a little part of it.) While we had great food everywhere, I skipped taking any pictures. While there were lots of details on the ships, walking, and ball park, I skipped taking any pictures. What I did record were the major parts of our trip and the three of us.
Our first stop was Fenway Park. Red Sox did not look like a team that was struggling. And on a Wednesday night the stadium was packed. (I have not had a hot dog in 3 years. Had two and they were fantastic!)
Thursday Morning was the USS Constitution. How cool to see a ship that is 229 years old, circled the globe twice, and was named and seen by George Washington. (Well had “The Worlds #1 Sandwich” for lunch. Have to admit the pastrami was great.)
Our first stop on Friday was the Seaman’s Bethel in New Bedford. The three of us had actually been here before - 52 years ago. I for sure remember the pulpit. (We introduced Michael to a Lobster Roll. He is now a fan. Ends up our dad is not.)
Then it was Mystic Sea Port. Again the three of us had seen the Charles W Morgan 52 years ago, but our dad was the only one who remembered it. This was one of my parents favorite stops during our 14 month sail boat trip in 1974. (Got to sample a little whale blubber. None of us liked it. Just kidding. There were no whales hurt on our account during our trip.)
Our final stop Saturday morning was the USS Nautilus at the New London submarine base. This was the USA’s first nuclear submarine. It was also the first submarine to visit the North Pole - under the ice! (Breakfast this morning was egg and fixings served inside a pop over. Everyone has to have a hook. Ha!)
It was a great trip and I am lucky that my traveling companions have the same tolerance for sight seeing as me. Two full days is plenty and all 3 of us are ready to be home. (And none of us need to eat anything until tomorrow, but I bet we will. Ha!)
