September Goals
Even though my cancer number is zero and I have over 3,000 miles on my bike this year, I still think about failing almost every time I go out. There was a time in May of 2023 (I was deep into Induction treatment.) when I did fail. I could make my legs go around in circles, but not with any resistance. Too much training, too little nutrition, too much treatment. I was done!
When will this happen again? I do not think it will be tomorrow. But then again back in 2023 I was good on a Tuesday and completely wiped out on Wednesday. It came literally overnight.
My goals for this September are:
30 days
660 miles
One bone marrow biopsy
One PET scan
Two rounds of treatment
$22,000 raised for the Great Cycle Challenge
$22,000 raised for Dana Farber
$22,000 raised for HealthTree
We are 1/3 of the way through September. I am ahead of schedule on the bike (268 miles as of September 9) but way behind on dollars ($3,000 as of September 9). I know this letter is way behind. I have no good excuses (are there ever any?). I am just hoping you will forgive me and contribute anyway.
Same deal as last year. Choose any of the three organizations (or all 3) and make a donation. Jeri and I will match your donation(s) at the other two. Bottom line, you contribute and we will match it times two.
So, what do you think? You game to make a donation (or three)?
If yes, just click on one (or all) of the links below and pull out your credit card. All three are pretty easy to navigate and all three are valuable and vetted by me.
SHINE!

PS There will be no failing today. I am actually on an exercise bike in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. While I agree that the finish line is not the goal, right now I can see a clear path to it and I’m taking it!
