Thank You!
My goals for September 2025 were to ride 660 miles and raise $66,000. As I wrote in the first post, I always have a little fear that I won’t make it. A crash. Bad weather. Medicine fatigue. Donor fatigue. Or just plain lack of effort.
On the money side, we made it! With the matching gifts, we are currently at $83,889. This is great, and I am very happy. Thank you! We only fell short of “Fantastic” and “Ecstatic” because last year was over $90,000. I guess next year I better get my butt back out on Route 66. Ha!
On the miles side, I currently need 10 miles to hit the goal and am sitting at a Starbucks 30 miles from my house. Baring a a catastrophe, I should make it.
About 5 days ago when I knew I only had 100 miles to go, I started scheming my next goal. (Much to Jeri’s chagrin. Ha!). I have just over 1,300 miles to ride by year end to hit 5,000 for the year. I just need 15 miles a day to make it. The fact that it is within striking distance, but by no means a slam dunk, automatically caused my mind to say “GO FOR IT!”
While I will quit asking for money until next year, I’ll still be out here on my bike. Besides 5,000 miles, I have an ulterior motive. I am 100% convinced that I can and that it is the only way I will beat Multiple Myeloma. I have lots of personal mottos. The one that fits here is “1st Out Ride Cancer!”
