September 11th, 2026 - Day 17
Day 17 - September 11, 2026
Route $66,000 - Arizona & New Mexico
The last full day. It has been a great trip. The van life has been fantastic. The biking was really good (I may have over done it a couple days.) The only significant thing we did not like was shooting from the hip every day that I was biking. It took too much time and energy to map out tomorrow each evening. Next time we will have an outline at least.
Jeri, once again, found a great place for breakfast. I am going to have to eat broccoli for every meal after the last 2 days. Yikes! The closest thing to green I have had is a green peanut M&M.
We have talked a lot about what we would put in a camper van. This has led to dozens of advertisements in my social media feed. Don’t be surprised if we show up at a camper van “show” whenever they have those kinds of things. There are just so many options. The only thing we have narrowed down as we do not want anything bigger than a van.
The stop for breakfast, candy, and dinner were all parts of Route 66. My favorite, however was the world’s second largest rocking chair. (Someone in illinois made a bigger one.) Even though I could not sit in it, thinking about someone who said “I’m gonna build the world’s largest rocking chair.” and then did it was inspiring.
SHINE!

PS. I will have totals tomorrow, but I know I am not at my goal. When I get there I will stop posting. Hopefully you will help me before everyone unfriends me.
