I Ride For: Larry
Fortunately I do not ride for family very often. If I remember correctly, there was Sandy, my wife’s cousin; Steven, my cousin; and now Larry, also my cousin. (Clearly, it is not good to be a cousin of Jeri or Jeff, but it is ok to be a parent, kid, or sibling. Ha!)
Larry has a blood cancer, but not the same as mine, and not leukemia. It has some huge name that even he cannot remember and this was before he started chemo. And even if I did remember the name, there is no way I could spell it. And while I am at it, why do all cancer drugs have like 2-4 names? And is there a requirement that one of these names and most blood and bone cancer names have a minimum of 15 letters? Now that I think of it, some of these names would make great passwords. Add a capital here and there along with an exclamation point and it would be unbreakable!
Unfortunately we are not as resilient as these potential passwords. But so far, Larry is doing well. He sent me a picture a week or so ago of him in an infusion chair reading a book. I usually do email. I think I like Larry’s idea. Of course he did not send me any pictures of napping. I have not met or seen a cancer patient who did not get a few winks in during treatment. I may have nodded off myself a few times.
Larry, like most cancer patients, has a long row to hoe. But along with treatment, he is also finding out what ELSE he can do. We have yet to trade recipes, but he is asking about nutrition. Of course I am sending him to the experts I have used and I don’t tell him about the Crumble Cookie that occasionally slips into my routine. 😃
SHINE!
