I Ride For: Athene

My Reel this past November 5 was about Athene. She contacted me because of her sister who read an article written by Suzanne who found my web site created by Kelly that was inspired by Cheryl Sandberg “If Option A is no longer available, kick the shit out of Option B.” Pretty dang cool chain of connections.

Athene got ahold of me because she and her husband were wrestling with Stem Cell Transplant or not. They saw in my story that I said no and wanted to find out why. My reasoning was the genetic make up of my Multiple Myeloma. Athene does not have the same genetic issue and messaged me a month or so later that she is moving forward with the transplant. Currently this is planned for April of 2026.

I have talked to a couple dozen cancer warriors in the last 3 years. I must admit that Athene was the first one in South Africa! Yep, we chatted for an hour via Zoom. The only complication was calculating the time zone change. It was so cool for me. I don’t know that I helped, but I continue to be amazed how much energy it brings me to make these kinds of connections.

Thank you to all who helped make this connection possible. Thank you for all who help make other connections possible. Athene, thank you for taking the risk and contacting me. You are welcome to call any time.

SHINE!
