I Ride For: Lannette

Clearly I almost messed up drawing Lannette’s flag. When I realized I was running out of space I almost left out an “N”. I thought no one will notice. Ha! I knew Lannette would so I went with a raised “A”.

I do not know what this signifies other than life regularly hands us something that does not fit. In the list of Strength Finder’s 34 strengths “Adaptability” is #34 for me. Clearly this personality assessment is crap. I am perfectly capable of being spontaneous as long as I schedule it ahead of time.

Life gave Lannette an unscheduled snag in 2025. She was completely minding her own business when she found out she has Multiple Myeloma. “What the hell is that?” I’m sure she wondered so probably looked on line. Her next thought was “Oh Shit!” (The statistics on line have not caught up with the current medications and they are grim.) Actually I am sure Lannette did not think any of these swear words and stayed cool, calm, and collected, but this is what I thought. Ha!

Lannette, I cheated big time with your flag. We spent Thanksgiving week down in Florida with 3 of our 4 kids and their clans. I biked every day in warm and beautiful weather. The worst was 60 degrees and windy. A far cry from Michigan this past week. While I feel a little guilty that I did not suffer more with your flag, when it comes to fighting cancer I think we should cheat every chance we get. The goal is to win/survive/thrive. Whatever it takes to get this done is clearly good in my books. Cheat like hell!
