Relentless

Another really good book. I can’t remember who recommended it. (Sorry if it was you). I sure am glad they did.

For a long time, I have been personally drawn to people who are what Tim Grover calls, “Cleaners”. Without knowing how to define it myself, what I was drawn to was the overriding desire of these people to succeed. Grover defines this as the need to always deliver results.

There have only been two times in my life where I have devoted all of my available energy to deliver a specific result. The first one was to become a cheerleader in college. (The coach said I was too small.) The second was to become a plant manager at the first company I worked for out of college. (They told me I could only be a sales person.) With a few exceptions for short periods of time the rest of my life, I’ve been able to do a little bit of this and a little bit of that every day, week, month, and year. I’ve never been the best at anything, but I’ve usually been good at a lot of things.

A cleaner is undisputedly the best at one thing. If you wanna know what it takes to be the best like Michael Jordan or Tom Cruise or Lance Armstrong or Donald Trump, Grover describes it in this book. You might find that you’re a cleaner as well. Or maybe, like me, you’ll find some tips on how you can get closer.

SHINE!
