September 6th, 2026 - Day 12
Day 12 - September 6, 2026
Route $66,000 - Arizona & New Mexico
Bike: 41miles, 942’, 2 hours 50 minutes
Mostly a recovery day for me, BUT NOT FOR JERI!
Yesterday was my toughest so far. It was not the longest, or the hottest, or the most climbing. Up until the 40 mile mark it was fantastic. Then between 40 and 50 miles I hit the wall. By the time I limped into the RV park I was maybe at 60% physical and mental ability.
I slept for 7.5 hours last night, got on the road when it was still cool, and rode very easy. It was a beautiful ride. Route 66 is fun, but I would trade a day like the last two any time. (Minus hitting the wall.)
Knowing I was ok (I got done riding about 10am.) Jeri took off on her own adventure. I was so happy, proud, and inspired. I ride for a week, but I’ve done it before. She not only visited the El Morrow National Monument she conquered the climb. While I sat in a McDonalds for 2 hours, Jeri was climbing the mountain. So cool.
SHINE!
Jeff
PS: I have received 4 contributions so far. Very cool. I missed my 3rd and final organization yesterday. (It was a tough day. I did not even have the strength to call my parents. Ha!) Still the Children’s Cancer Research Fund should not have to suffer for my tiredness. Ha! Hope you will chip in.
