Finished: The Book Thief

I have read many novels about WWII from the allies perspective. I have also read a few from the occupied perspective. I think this was the first one I have read from the German perspective.

Nothing in this surprised me. It was, however, a good reminder that most of us do not want war. We just want kind of a normal life where we can see a little room to make things better. We may speak different languages and have different customs but we feel the same pain.

This book is written from a unique perspective - death. It is reminiscent of CS Lewis and the Screw Tape Letters. The narrator is death. He is there to collect the souls and describes what he sees when he comes in contact from time to time with the little girl who ends up being The Book Thief.

I for sure recommend.
