I Ride For: Pam

I Ride For: Pam

This is NOT the beach where I expected to take this picture. My plan was to ride for a week or so while I was in Florida, take a picture with the Atlantic Ocean in the background, and send Pam the flag along with a little vial of sand. The plan was also to do all this before she had her first surgery. But a self inflicted collision with a construction barrel changed my plan on February 11.

Since my accident Pam has had numerous doctor visits, gone through the stress of waiting for her BRCA test to come back (she has two daughters) negative, The Surgery with weeks of recovery, and the weeks of waiting for tumor test results. (They got it all!)

Clearly going through breast cancer was NOT part of Pam’s winter plans. I do not know what Pam’s goals were, but I am sure they had nothing to do with getting out of bed for the first time, or eating normal food for the first time, or walking the dog for the first time. But she accomplished these revised plans and on Monday takes the next step.

Pam, while I did not get this flag to you, when it would have been more helpful, I was thinking of you every time I got on my bike. That first ride was only 15minutes with no tension. Today I still cannot go all out but the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter and bigger. I hope yours is too. I’ll be praying for your fantastic doctors on Monday and for you the rest of the week.

SHINE!
