I Ride For: Don

I was asked by my friend Jenny to do a flag for her co-worker, Don. I put her request into my Que, but Don ran out of time before I could get the flag on my bike. A month before Don thought he was in remission from Leukemia. Don survived two transplants. Now Don’s wife and three kids are the survivors. Jenny wrote, “He has been an inspiration and a role model to me and so many with the grace and positive attitude he has fought.” I’ll never know Don, but I road with him and for his family this week.

I Ride For: Mike

I Ride For: Mike. Mike is the cousin of my friend Jenny. Mike is battling brain cancer. He is 40 years old and the father of triplets. Many (including me) would say that Mike has gotten the short end of the stick. He has! Through this crappy deal, however, Mike is passing on a message for all. Jenny wrote me about Mike, “I admire his amazing spirit, positive attitude, and love of life.” As I road with Mike behind me I wondered where he gets the inspiration to be this kind of example. I also hoped that if put in similar circumstances I can do it too. Fight Like Hell Mike!
